The relevance and use of the library is GROWING, not lessening! On a daily basis, people truly depend on our services such as computer use, Wi-Fi connections, job resources, printing, scanning, and faxing. Books are still the most common format for information and it is a myth that printed materials will all be digitized.

The former library was just bursting at the seams! Shelving was at capacity and storage was “anywhere it fits”. The existing building was completed over 25 years ago, and it was showing its age. Our systems needed updating, and so did our level of energy use and efficiency. The new building and updates prove much more environmentally friendly. We feel confident in our efforts to reduce our carbon footprint.

The time is now. After two years of fundraising, we have reached 70% of our goal. Construction financing was provided through the Village of Somerset with a low interest, five year loan. It was imperative to begin the building process due to the time and money already invested.

Donations from Somerset residents and business owners account for over 75% of our current total donations. From private foundations, we have received $575,000.
